Wir laden Sie herzlich ein zur Einzelausstellung und Liveperformance der international renommierten und von der Kritik hochgelobten Performancekünstlerin AMANDA COOGAN mit performativer Fotografie, Zeichnungen und einer installativen Skulptur. Amanda Coogans Arbeiten sind herausfordernd, provokativ und visuell anregend. Mit Gesten und Kontext erschafft sie allegorische und poetische Werke, die vielfältig sind und Erwartungen herausfordern. Dabei spielt der Körper als Ort des Widerstands eine zentrale Rolle. In ihren Longduration Performances erschafft sie eine kontrollierte Instabilität und Elemente des Chaos, in denen Unbekanntes und Unvorhergesehenes dynamisch ausbrechen.
Die Meisterschülerin von Marina Abramovic wurde u.a mit dem Allied Irish Bank’s Art Prize ausgezeichnet. Mit ihrer Performance „Recycling the Future“ war sie 2003 auf der Biennale di Venezia vertreten und stellte bisher u.a im Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, Liverpool Biennale, PS1 MoMA New York, The Whitworth Gallery Manchester, The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Manchester International Festival, The MAC Belfast, Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, National Gallery of Ireland aus. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Belfast. Die irische Post widmete ihr eine Briefmarke, die Irish Times betitelte sie als „führende Performancekünstlerin des Landes“, Artforum schrieb über eine ihrer Performances "Performance Art at its best". Zur Vernissage am 24. Mai sind alle Interessierten herzlich eingeladen. Am 25. Mai präsentiert Coogan die 6-stündige Liveperformance „The Ballad of Now“. Der Eintritt ist frei. We cordially invite you the solo exhibition and live performance by internationally recognised and critically acclaimed performance artist AMANDA COOGAN. She will be showing performative photography, drawings and a sculptural installation. Amanda Coogan’s works are challenging, provocative and always visually stimulating. Using gesture and context she makes allegorical and poetic works that are multi-faceted, and challenge expected contexts. The body, as a site of resistance, is the centrality of Coogan's work. The long durational aspect of her live presentations invites elements of chaos with the unknown and unpredicted erupting dynamically through her live artworks.
The Marina Abramovic graduate was awarded the Allied Irish Bank’s Art Prize. With her performance „Recycling the Future“ she was invited to the Biennale di Venezia in 2003 and has extensively presented and performed her work, including Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam, Liverpool Biennale, PS1 MoMA New York, The Whitworth Gallery Manchester, The Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Manchester International Festival, The MAC Belfast, Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, National Gallery of Ireland. She currently lives and works in Belfast. The Irish Post dedicated a postage stamp to her work. The Irish Times have said, 'Coogan, whose work usually entails ritual, endurance and cultural iconography, is the leading practitioner of performance in the country'. Artforum described one of her performances as "Performance Art at its best". The artist will be present at the opening reception May 24 and will present her 6-hours liveperformance „The Ballad of Now“ May 25.
