ANNA BERNDTSON
PERFORMANCEART Anna Berndtson is a Swedish performance artist working foremost with Long Duration Live Performance Art. The foundation of her practice is the presence of both the artist and the public. She transgresses boundaries with her body and own perception at the centre of her work. With minimalism as a goal the reduction of the image is fundamental in her performances, videos and photographs. Apart from her solo work Anna Berndtson works in collaborations with other artist and in groups. Since 2003 Anna Berndtson and Irina Runge have worked together in the Performance-Duo TBL (TallBlondLadies).
HOURGLASS

Time is a construct of man. We are the only animal on the planet that has left our subjective sensation of time and put this temporal measurement into mechanic or electronic units. We are aware of the limited time we have at our disposal and our own mortality. Expressions like “wasting time” and “time is money” show how important time can be in our society. Dealing with time in this way looks at not just the passing of time but also the meaning of time and questions, if we use our time in a meaningful way.

LIVE COLLAGE

This performance explores the notion of live-collage performance. As we celebrate 100 years of the DADA art movement and its exploration of the boundaries of art, we also commemorate the tragic First World War Centenary. At present however, it doesn't feel that far away as it did when I grew up in the 1970’s and 80’s. War, terror and political and religious extremism has become apart of our daily lives, if not down our own streets, then just a click away and very close in the constant news flow and media coverage.Since DADA emerged amid the Great War, I am eager to explore the impact our current horrifying situation can have on art today. Fascinated by the photomontage of Hannah Höch, a prominent member of the Berlin DADA movement, I am exploring what collage work can mean to me as a performance artist.
